No words can truly describe the young man Jay is. The first description he will give you is a football player. Next, good looking and smart. And he is. He is an exceptional wide receiver at his high school. Playing football for more than half his life. An 'A' student at school. A well-liked friend among his peers. Adults love him for his respect, care and good nature. And a heart the size of the universe.

Jay hadn't been feeling well. His breathing was noticeably getting worse so we decided to take him to urgent care. After an x-ray, they found pneumonia and had us go to the ER. They ran blood tests. They wanted to admit him to start antibiotics for the pneumonia and more testing because there were abnormalities in his initial tests. A bone marrow biopsy was done and confirmed that he has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-cell type. He started chemotherapy along with still battling the pneumonia.

There is no doubt in our hearts and minds that he will have a full recovery. The doctors have assured us the cure rate is outstanding. It's the journey to get there that will be hard.
If all goes well, he will only be in the hospital on this round for a little over a week and then be able to go home. Due to the nature of the chemo treatments, he can not be around crowds of people as his immune system is severely compromised.

He will continue chemo treatments as an outpatient and inpatient. Unfortunately, the chemo will not make him feel good. He is strong and has been amazing through this life changing sickness. He is on the path of recovery for his pneumonia and is taking on the chemo treatments head on. Determined to not let this bring down his spirits. The outpouring of love from his teammates has been outstanding and probably the best medicine he could have.
