Diagnosis:  B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Kit was born with Down syndrome in Bulgaria. He was adopted from an orphanage at the age of 3.5 and joined us here in the US. He now has a brother, sister, a Mom and Dad, 3 cats and a dog.  

One year ago we got the dreaded phone call that what we suspected was true. He did in fact have B-Cell ALL. Because Kit was born with Down syndrome he spent the first 4 months inpatient. This was incredibly hard on the entire family being split in two. Kit has an incredibly traumatic background rooted in abuse and neglect. And while we are trying to help him live, he does not trust medical professionals. This makes everything so so hard for him.  

We have just made it to maintenance. Which should feel like a victory but he has been dealt a difficult hand of starting to have seizures, that led to being intubated and he then developed pancreatitis. It has been a hard month for him and us as a family.
